VETERANS - LAW ENFORCEMENT - PARAMEDICS - FIREFIGHTERS - MEDICAL TRIAGE
Home for Patriots Foundation, Inc. (H4P) was created to address one of the nation's most pressing, un-addressed problems: the extraordinarily high suicide rate of First Responders. First Responders are individuals engaged in those professions which move towards danger in order to save others from harm or death. They include a broad range of professions, such as Military, law enforcement, firefighters, Peri-Meds, Medical-Triage, all who are considered heroes and Patriots.
H4P was created to assist Patriots who have been identified as adversely affected by trauma-related work incidents sufficient in severity to undermine the quality and purpose of life. Many of those initially receiving assistance from H4P will have been on suicide watch and/or suicide attempt survivors. These factors alone will demonstrate that they are viable candidates for H4P programs and increases the probability that they will be willing participants. Unique plans for intervention and assistance will be tailored to the individual Patriot.
Patriots receiving H4P care and training begin a plant-based food nutrition plan to nourish their physical bodies as they learn about proper nutrition and meal preparation techniques from staff professionals. When the Patriot is mentally and physically capable of doing so, they are invited to assist in growing and harvesting the foods used in the daily menus.
Just as each Patriot candidate is carefully vetted during the selection process, all employees and service providers, regardless of employment or contract relationship, are subjected to even more stringent vetting and qualification. Each is required to be renowned in their field, to work humbly and without ego, to possess special expertise and knowledge in their field of discipline, and to exhibit the highest level of compassionate professionalism. The H4P association of leaders, coaches, professionals, and mentors consists of individuals, organizations, and service providers, such as interventionists, recovery program specialists, spiritual chaplains, licensed counselors, nutritionists, medical stabilization and treatment professionals, life coaches, and others. Custom programs are developed for the individual Patriot with the focus always being on the Patriot's need to achieve optimization for individual wholeness, health, and wellness. These programs expand and extend to the Patriot’s family members as H4P ascribes to the belief that improving the outcome for one improves the outcome for all and vice versa.
Home for Patriots proudly declares three foundational attributes central to all activities in order to provide the highest level of professional services with the minimum restrictions for accessibility.
First, H4P is not religious-affiliated and does not promote religion, but is classified as a spiritual ministry for government regulation purposes. Non-denominational spiritual principles and practices are demonstrated by trained professionals without regard to their faith background. All service providers and employees agree to respect the beliefs of the individual Patriot and their family and refrain from promoting their own religious dogma.
Home for Patriots is dedicated to total transparency in its documentation, operation, and modalities. It is a licensed, chartered corporation in the State of Florida and has applied for status with the Internal Revenue Service for non-profit organization status. All persons, corporations, associations, and other entities who partner with, contract with, are employed by, and otherwise, support H4P in its mission must agree to meet and maintain the highest level of transparency regarding all of their interactions with H4P, its Patriots, and their families. Any breach of their duty of transparency will subject them to be terminated from employment or have their contract rescinded.
The suicide rate among these Patriots is 2-to-3 times higher than the national average, even when excluding active military and veterans. The impact on their families and co-workers is horrific. H4P has researched numerous treatment modalities, identified those addressing holistic protocols, and validated cross-discipline courses of action that significantly decrease the risk of suicide while increasing physical, mental, and spiritual health to enable Patriots to return to independence and enjoy quality and purpose in their and their families' lives.
The initial treatment modality employed to stabilize Patriots with a high-risk suicidal ideation or intent is a canine-buddy program (K-9 Program) where the Patriot is carefully matched with a qualified counselor, a pre-qualified, trained rescue canine, and a certified canine trainer. This treatment modality, typically lasting three-to-nine months depending on the level of need, will mentor the Patriot to resume being a trusted, responsible citizen. An instantaneous bond is created between the canine and the Patriot and envisioned program result is a certified service dog bonded with a Patriot trained to manage and care for their new canine partner. Another positive feature of the K-9 Program is that H4P recognizes its responsibility to ensure that the nearly 40% of the rescue canines reviewed who do not meet the applicable trainable standards will receive full care, a secure home, and individual placement in an appropriate, safe habitat for life.
On each H4P property contains a garden area sufficient to support the local facility, and each Patriot is provided an individual plot of land where they and their family enjoy gardening instruction and guidance and learn the value of growing what you can eat. The Hands-On Growing Program contributes to the health and wellness of each Patriot, teaches self-sufficiency, and brings families together.
As the Patriot displays more independence and responsibility, they and their family graduate into H4P’s expanded holistic treatment modalities, again tailored to the needs of the Patriot and their family. When the Patriot demonstrates the ability to live independently with minimal risk of harming themselves and others, H4P assists them with job training and placement to allow them to return to society as productive citizens.
Second, H4P is not politically affiliated or influenced. The introduction of political doctrine or agenda is strictly prohibited. Professionals are permitted to answer a direct question about their particular political beliefs, but must verbally qualify that their response is their personal view and not one endorsed or promoted by H4P.
Third, H4P seeks protocols, processes, and modalities focused on insuring minimal governmental oversight and intervention and as much operational freedom as possible, much like the freedom a medical provider is privileged to enjoy in time of war. This requires that H4P remain in strict compliance with all state and federal laws at each physical location.
As provided in the adopted H4P bylaws, H4P does not participate in any political agenda or support any political candidate, organization, or cause, remaining neutral so far as possible. H4P, while unable to require the same of its outside service providers, does strongly request that they honor the H4P Declaration of Principles set forth above. If their decision to do otherwise negatively impacts their ability to provide services or impedes the progress of a Patriot, they may be subject to having their contract for services terminated.
The individuals who founded, formed, and incorporated H4P are in the process of incorporating a sister corporation with the mission to design, build, and maintain the physical facilities to be used by H4P to fully provide all its services to Patriots and their families.
